If Dennis think it's a bad time because he's sick, he's forgetting how little Lewin cares about cleanliness. The Arc Knight is just glad the kid seems to have moved past that whole little hospital thing.

"There's never a bad time for questions," he grins as he plops down next to Dennis. "Shoot."

Dennis was more concerned about the Arc Knight's time table and workload, especially since Lewin's lost several days to a random spell. But since he doesn't seem pressed about anything the teen will step into his office without much hesitation. He'll keep some distance though, to avoid spreading this random, legitimate flu virus to Lewin.

"I was wondering about... well, a lot of things." He feigned a laugh and smile while he rubbed at the back of his neck for a moment. "Like-- Rin mentioned one time how there's tamers who work for the Order just to build and draw up contracts with demons, and I was wondering if that was a real thing or not. And also like-- summoning sigils. Does their potency or effectiveness change at all if I make one up with a pen and paper versus just blood? Or does it not really matter? Cause I know the symbols matter, but like, if I have to use blood on a piece of paper to draw a demon in then using nothing but blood would kind of be like a bigger attraction, right?"

It was quiet at home, save for the bustling and sizzling going on in the kitchen as Penny cooked a home-made meal. The noise didn't bother Dennis that much though, nor did it prove to be a huge distraction from his summer study work at the dining table. The smell, however, quickly proved itself to be a real problem as the scent of sauteed chicken and alfredo sauce wafted its way to him, stirring up his appetite and creating a black hole within his stomach all at once.

It was torture, to say the least, and when his mother had the gall to ask, "How's your study work going, sweetie?" Dennis wanted to slam his head into the table.

"Fine." He managed to strain out of himself without letting too much frustration bleed through. Things had come to a grinding halt ever since his stomach started eating itself in a desperate bid to get food, but it was fine. Everything was fine and the homework was fine and--

A polite knock at the door had all heads turning to look at the main entrance of the apartment. Then, before his mother could say anything, Dennis got up from the table and made tracks for the front door. "I got it."

"Check who it is before you just open it." Penny chided at him.

"Yes, mom." Dennis sighed out in annoyance because he was going to do that anyway. But whatever. It's fine. Looking through a peep hole really isn't that hard to do or easy to forget but whatever.

Opening the door though proved to be a slight challenge for Dennis after he actually saw who was standing on the other side of it, waiting patiently. Despite how unnerved he was to see Mephisto however, Dennis knew he couldn't keep the Director waiting for long. He didn't know what Mephisto would do if he grew impatient with them, but it didn't take a genius to understand that it just wasn't a good idea to try the demon's patience either. So, after a quick breath to steel his nerve, Dennis unlocked the deadbolt, kept the chain lock in place, cracked the door open, and poked his head in through the small space.

"Director Faust...?" Dennis sounded unsure when he addressed the demon. With so many names and titles to his name, it was hard to know which should be used at any given time. Seeing how his mom was unaware of Mephisto's true demonic nature, Dennis opted for the more 'safe' name at the moment; the one he had been given by Mephisto when he asked him for a name some odd weeks ago. It seemed to be the 'human persona' name that Mephisto had, but Dennis could only guess at that.

🌀 Rin ended up making a beeline for the dorm kitchen, basically his primary refuge when he needed a distraction, a way to clear his head. Once he was by himself, save for Ukobach lurking in whichever shadow, he leaned against one of the counters with a weary sigh, running a hand through his hair.

That was... a disaster. He panicked and ran off and probably hurt Dennis' feelings. But he did need space, and a chance to recollect himself. And now that that was accomplished, he owed Dennis an apology. Or... maybe an explanation. He glanced over at the pots and pans, an idea coming to mind. ........... After a certain amount of time had passed, Rin returned carrying a plate in his hands with some sort of delicious-smelling omelette.

"Umm. Dennis? You still around? I made you a snack." 🐈‍⬛

"Hm?" Dennis looked up from his desk and studies after hearing something through his headphones that wasn't music, then looked back at the bedroom door to find Rin standing there, waiting for him with a plate in hand. Seeing that-- Seeing Rin then filled him with relief because it meant that whatever Rin had run off for was either short lived or not related to suddenly avoiding Dennis, for whatever reason Rin might have to do that now. But also made him feel a bit embarrassed because the poor guy had come back just to make Dennis food again - which was kind of their thing too - Rin's thing, like how the music was Dennis' - but still.

After sliding his headphones off, Dennis gets up from the desk and moves across the room to meet Rin at the door. "You didn't have to do that." He won't say no to the food though, he is feeling kind of peckish. "You doing okay though?" Because it has not been forgotten how upset Rin was before he suddenly took off, even if he has come back in seemingly better spirits.

Of course the night everyone frets and he feels like shit over it is the same night he's going to come home bruised and scratched up too. None of it is life threatening, but none of it is pretty or easy to hide either. He was too distracted, got sloppy with his work, and--

Dennis sighs. This is why he needs this training but now no one's ever going to let him out after this. If only running away was an option.

...he'll just sit on the curb outside the dorm for a while. Maybe a decent enough cover story will come to him sooner rather than later.

With very careful, deliberate movements, Jaden sets a cellphone and an earbud case down on the center of Mephisto's desk. Then, after sliding the two objects a bit closer to the Baal, he retracts his hand and straightens his posture to stand at attention on the opposite side of Mephisto.

"I'd appreciate it if you could get these back to Dennis at some point. Preferably before he tries to get them replaced and spends a bunch of money we don't have to."

HEY WOW, LOOK AT THESE STUDY SHEETS. DENNIS IS REALLY INTO THEM AND DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL AVOIDING LOOKING AT RIN FOR ANY REASON.

Fuck they're math sheets. Ugh.
